The title of this extraordinarily interesting assembly of “substantial entries” on cardinal aspects of anthropological work reveals its focus. The greatest and most influential concentration of anthropological studies has been and still is on either side of the Atlantic Ocean. The combination of North American perspectives (“cultural anthropology”) with those of Europe (“social anthropology” or “ethnology”) reflects the diversity of anthropology as a truly global discipline.
