In these days of genetically modified seeds and chemical bird repellants, the scarecrow is somewhat of a charming anachronism. I am rather tempted to say the same of Scarecrow Press. Its books are nicely published, elegantly bound, pleasant to handle, using paper which “meets the minimum requirements of the American National Standard for … permanence…” but few, if any, of the publications that I have come across really seem to fill any obvious information gap.
