The Handbook of Speech Perception is a detailed collection of forward‐thinking seminal articles that offer a summary of the technical and theoretical accomplishments in this vital area of research on language. The editors David Pisoni and Robert Remez, along with all the contributors, are leading authorities in the field. The major goal of the text is to present the research and theory that has guided understanding of human speech perception in the fields of phonetics, audiology and speech science, cognitive science, experimental psychology, behavioural neuroscience, computer science and electrical engineering among others. It certainly achieves this goal.
