This book is one of six in a series that provides encyclopedic information related to the world's religions: Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, Roman Catholicism, and Protestant Christianity. Protestantism is the newest of these six religions, beginning in the late fifteenth century with four different and competing sects to Roman Catholicism that has since splintered into many different forms and denominations.

There are approximately 600 entries in this encyclopedia, listed from A‐Z. Each entry, whether biographical or topical, is an extensive essay on the topic, with large capitalization in the text indicating cross‐references to other essays available elsewhere in the encyclopedia....
