Many librarians will have made sure that this, the fifth edition of a trusty reference work, was added to their stock on publication. Like the plastic bag or the computer, we know there must have been life before it – it is one of those works that practitioners now wonder how they ever managed without!

The book's title suggests it is a listing by author of others who write in a similar way. I do just wonder if some authors take exception to this, when, having established an individual literary voice, they appear to be considered “just the same as”...
