Antarctica: An Encyclopedia (2nd edition)

I no longer fear sledging snow‐blind across the bleak, frozen wastes of Antarctica, for I have trudged through the dense and dreary prose that comprises this encyclopedia and lived to tell the tale. That this book is comprehensive in weighty textural detail would be an understatement, given the train spotter like zeal with which facts are crammed into the work. However, mere assemblage of facts in the internet age is no longer a prerequisite of quality and it is regrettable that this work falls down in so many other aspects.
