If the nineteenth century French gastronome Brillat‐Savarin could have read this book of edible horrors, he might have thought twice before asking “Tell me what you eat, and I'll tell you what you are”! Freaky types of food from around the world include unusual parts of animal anatomy, slimy and creepy crawly creatures, plus other fermented, manufactured, generally malodorous and potentially toxic fare. The editors would like readers to keep an open mind – and ask “Where can I try some?’ instead of “They eat that?” – but some of the entries would test even the most intrepid eater!
