The Bayeux Tapestry is an amazing survival and is a key document for many aspects of the history of its period. It seems likely that it has lost some panels at the beginning and the end. It has been likened to a PowerPoint presentation with each incident presented as a separate slide. I have not seen the original, but there is a very good replica copy in Reading Museum which I have looked at on a number of occasions.
