Claimed to be the only pan‐European guide to the plastics industry, and now published in an eighth edition, this directory focuses on an extensive listing of the products and services which are provided by the firms listed in the company information section. In the true spirit of European union each of these categories appears in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. Details of over 10,000 European businesses are included, details having been verified with the individual companies.
So, as to the content: the Products and Services section comprises: 457 pages and includes the categories: Materials, Semi‐Finished Products, Machinery and Equipment, Processing and Related Services, Manufactured Products and Consultancy and Testing Services, with a preceding index. Within each of the categories a further sub‐division is made by an alphabetical arrangement of products. Companies are listed within their own country, countries being listed alphabetically under the product name. Following the Products and Services section is a listing of trade names and then the Company Information section. This is a straightforward alphabetical sequence of companies, giving name, address, telephone and fax numbers, information on whether the company is a manufacturer, distributor, non‐manufacturing subsidiary, trade/research association or consultancy. In most cases the number of employees and key contacts are also listed.
Very often new editions are heralded by publishers as containing much more information, with new categories, etc., etc. Not so with this publication: a comparison with the sixth (1995) edition reveals an identical “look” and format but that edition had 1,000 more companies listed. Production is in A4 format, between soft covers, but the binding is sturdy. This is recommended for business or reference libraries.
