Animated Film Encyclopedia (RR 2012/085). Second edition of this work first published in 2000 by British film historian Graham Webb. Extends coverage to December 1999 (first edition covered to 1979) with 7,000 entries.
CINAHL (RR 2012/077). Review taking a fresh look at this critical nursing and allied health database focussing on issues arising from the 2006 change to exclusive availability through EBSCO.
Encyclopedia of Snow, Ice and Glaciers (RR 2012/079). Another offering in Springer’s significant Encyclopedia of Earth Sciencesseries last reviewed in these columns with Encyclopedia of Soil Science(RR 2008/274).
Encyclopedia of Drug Policy (RR 2012/058). Probably the most significant reference on drug-related issues reviewed since The Encyclopedia of Addictive Drugs (RR 2003/401). As the title indicates, the focus is on policy and societal issues rather than the biology or psychology of drug addiction.
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (RR 2012/80). A review outlining some of the resources and publications available from this World Meteorological Organization/United Nations Environment Programme supported IPCC site.
Movies in American History (RR 2012/089). An ABC-Clio three volume set (reviewed here in its e-book version) documenting the cultural history of American film in three major sections: Films (by title); People (actors,directors, etc.); and Subjects.
Palgrave Dictionary of Anglo-Jewish History (RR 2012/095). The first widely available reference work on Jewish history in the UK providing about 3,000 entries, the majority biographical, from Cromwell’s re-admittance of Jews to Britain in 1656 to the present day.
Poetry Archive (RR 2012/072). Developing site aiming to collect,catalogue and make freely available recordings of English language poets reading their own work.
Wiley Encyclopedia of Operations Research and Management (RR2012/066). One of Wiley’s major sets comprising eight heavyweight volumes. Will remain the standard reference source in the field for the foreseeable future.
