Few books have a more appropriate title than this one, for the name “Grampian” comes from that of the first battle described in it. The name was actually Mons Graupius, but a mistake by a mediaeval scholar changed it to Grampius, or else we should now speak of the Graupian Mountains and Graupian Television.
