A Military Source List

To the advanced researcher, bibliographies are crucial, but manuscript catalogues are even more useful, for whereas the same printed book may be found in many libraries, manuscripts are by definition unique, and only one repository may possess the information required. The more that archivists publicise their holdings, the better researchers will be served. The Scottish Record Office has now begun to issue lists of parts of its stock, and the present volumes concern military records (including naval records, though they are not numerous).
