St Paul’s Bibliographies have justifiably earned a reputation for their erudition and painstaking research in recent years, and have successfully occupied the specialist niche vacated by Hart‐Davis’s Soho Bibliographies. Gillian Fenwick is Professor of English at Trinity College, University of Toronto, and, although she acknowledges the help given to her by a number of eminent librarians and archivists, she is not a librarian herself.
