It is hard to teach old linguists (vintage 1950) new tricks. Steeped as I am in older methods of linguistic analysis, from elementary‐school “parsing” to the countless fleeting and discordant orthodoxies of successive decades, I found this neat workbook challenging, often puzzling, ultimately rewarding. A fresh broom making short shrift of my cobwebs! I see English grammar now in a new way.
