Dictionary of Lexicography

There has been a gradual development of a philosophical and intellectual framework for the study of reference access and of reference authoring and publishing within a historical context, exemplified in the pioneering work of McArthur (1986). This contrasts with the slightly more numerous descriptive histories and accounts of reference works and reference publishing, such as in recent years Kabdebo and Armstrong (1997) and Katz (1998).
