We last commented on the value of this series as a cumulative publishing venture in addition to its sum of individual volumes in review 98/99. Three new volumes to hand really serve to confirm the comments made on that occasion. Two more Asian civilisations are covered, complete with sumptuous colour illustration which is highly appropriate to the subjects concerned; much of the colour has been lost from the Khmer civilisation and the majority of the illustrations are of undecorated temples and statues; but the original colour and verve of the Mughal Empire is superbly caught and reproduced from original paintings,...
