It can be said at the outset that this is a very useful book of reference for those interested in British and American drama. It sets out to be a practical guide for scholars and researchers, and as such it concentrates only on collections which are publicly available. It is also concerned with manuscript material and the ephemera of dramatists, directors, stage‐managers and the like, and not with published texts.
