As the title says, this is a guide to the literature on various aspects of music and is intended for use by students at all levels from undergraduate upwards. As well as articles on particular composers ‐ not only classical ones ‐ there are plenty of references to forms, instruments, critical theories and so on. A typical series of entries therefore runs Janacvek, Japan, Jazz, Joplin, Josquin, Kern, Keyboard music … Some of these are sub‐divided.
