Historic Forfar: The Archaeological Implications of Development

A quarter of a century ago, it was realised that urban development was in danger of destroying much of the archaeological evidence which would then have been available in Scotland’s historic towns, and in order to draw attention to the extent of this danger, the Scottish Burgh Survey was set up.
