Rivers of the World: A Social, Geographical and Environmental Sourcebook

James Penn has produced accounts of 192 rivers. The selection method was to take the most obviously important rivers, like the Nile and the Amazon, and then to add rivers that are of historical or environmental interest, whilst keeping the number of entries under 200. The number limitation was set by the author to allow space for accounts of between 250 and 2,500 words. The author has allowed himself a variation in style and content between the entries. The accounts are brief but informative discussions of each of the chosen rivers.
