This dictionary aims to bring knowledge of Biblical scholarship to non‐specialist readers and to provide a basic reference work for students embarking on courses in Biblical Studies. It covers two main areas, the history of Bible translation into the English language and, as background to this, the wider field of Biblical scholarship. The author is a Baptist minister, also a writer and lecturer, and Chaplain Emeritus at the University of Sussex.
