If I had a son or daughter going to university to read philosophy and intending to think clearly or argue effectively, I would give them the paperback. If I were a subject librarian looking for core texts to support basic philosophy classes, I would read the book (it is most enjoyable) and ensure that all the sources (Austin, Plantinga, Hurley, Plato, Peirce, Nagel, Mill, Quine, Popper, Wittgenstein) were ready in the short loan.
