Chambers Biographical Dictionary (7th edition)

First published in 1897, Chambers Biographical Dictionary is now in its seventh edition. Extensively updated, this edition, which comes five years after the sixth, includes over 500 new entries and contains more than 17,500 biographies of notable people both living and dead. It maintains its single volume format, and the preface acknowledges that in order to do this some entries appearing in previous editions have had inevitably to be deleted.
