This addition to the Oxford Companions contains more than 2,000 alphabetically arranged entries on Chaucer. Douglas Gray, the editor, has assembled, in addition to himself, a distinguished group of 13 Chaucerians to contribute: Ron Bedford, Piero Boitani, John Borrow, Helen Cooper, Stephen Gill, Richard Firth Green, John C. Hirsch, Anne Hudson, John North, Derek Pearsall, Patricia Shaw Urdiales, Eric Stanley, and Hanneke Wilson. The first entry is a sentence on Aaron cited by the friar in The Summoner's Tale. The final entry covers nearly two columns (these are double column pages) on the subject of youth.
