I have frequently remarked in the pages of Reference Reviews, on the extent to which psychologists with nothing better to do go on churning out small dictionaries. I seem to have reviewed so many over the years that they have started blurring before my eyes, particularly as they all seem to cover very much the same material. I cannot imagine who buys them all. I know that every university is busy closing down courses in chemistry and engineering and medieval history in order to cram in more students of psychology or business studies, so I suppose aunts wander into bookshops...
