Historical Dictionary of New England

If one were to describe to a visitor the cultural and historical significance of New England, how could one illustrate it best? Perhaps, New England may be best compared to a family attic. Like the proverbial attic, New England is a place where one discovers the living past, a place where one can explore “a long, well‐defined and well‐documented tradition” (p.ix). Indeed, New England is a place in which one can understand our national heritage.
