Dictionary of Military Terms (3rd edition)

While several dictionaries of military terms have featured in these columns (e.g. Dupuy 2003, RR 2004/71) the present one has a different emphasis from the rest. It is part of a series of dictionaries on special subsets of English vocabulary, and is slanted towards readers who are learning military English as a foreign language, or instructors who are teaching them. Thus, the definitions are in particularly simple terms and each word or phrase is provided with a pronunciation guide in the International Phonetic Alphabet and examples of correct usage.
