This site offers interactive maps that show languages spoken in the USA and the distribution of the speakers in a visually effective manner. According to the site's introduction, the map was designed for students and instructors but also for anyone curious about languages and cultures in the USA.

The map is built on data from the 2000 US Census, specifically the responses to the question, “does this person speak a language other than English at home?” Using the zip codes and county identifications from the census records, the map shows the distribution of speakers of 30 languages throughout the USA....
