North American Mammals

North American Mammals is part of the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History website. This highly useful and intuitive site contains basic information on the mammals of North America. Entries for each mammal include common and scientific names, a colour drawing, brief paragraph, map showing the range of the animal, size, sexual dimorphism, references, and links to additional information. Some entries have further detail including, but not limited to, photographs, sketches of the skull, teeth, select bones, sound clips, and conservation status (i.e. how close is this animal to extinction?).
