The Encyclopedia of Irish History and Culture spans prehistoric times to the present, and treats both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland in detail. Entries reflect the customary inclusive, cross‐disciplinary approach, and are written by specialists in the various fields. About two‐thirds of the work comprises 25 substantial thematic articles, 200 medium‐length articles on movements, periods, institutions and cities, and 175 short articles on individuals, groups and events; examples of the three types, by the same contributor are: Landscape and Settlement, Estates and Demesnes and Ordnance Survey.
