Since its shift to a market economy in the 1980s, China has seen a steady development of its cultural industries, plainly not at the same dramatic pace as some of its other industries but, nonetheless, the momentum has begun. With just about a quarter century gone, it was timely to produce this reference book which is the first to tackle this subject and to set a clear benchmark for any similar work that may come in its wake.
