This book has been extracted from the 2002 ninth edition of the McGraw Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology. It has been produced by an editorial team, but the articles have been attributed to the original authors. I have to admit that, although I often use the McGraw Hill Encyclopedia for chemical and physical data, I have not used it for environmental and biological information, probably because other sources are available for those topics. I will now recommend this encyclopedia to others for this sort of information.
