The Archive of Early American Images is drawn entirely from the holdings of Brown University's John Carter Brown Library. The library has an extensive collection of books, maps, and manuscripts relating to the colonial period of North and South America, from 1492 to ca. 1825. When we examined the site in October 2005 it contained 2,269 images. When complete, the collection will comprise about 6,000 images.
