Leo Strauss and His Legacy: A Bibliography

This bibliography best makes sense for readers already familiar with the hyperactive historiography of modern American politics, and above all that part of it dealing with neo‐conservatism and the alleged decline of democratic liberalism. For many politics is a pragmatic activity only remotely connected with philosophy or indeed ideology, so the connection philosophy has and should have with politics (through political philosophy) is a moving target. The issues of good and bad tangle up with right and left, with historical analogy and historicism, with wider politico‐cultural concerns about relativism and postmodernism, and, now, with global politics and US hegemony.
