This dictionary successfully provides both an overview and a detailed examination of women writers associated with the literary region of Munster in south‐west Ireland. Women writers have made a significant contribution to the area over a sustained period, and this is now noted by this worthwhile publication.

 The scope or inclusion criteria used by the editorial team is remarkable and worth some comment. Those writers who were active during the two centuries 1800 to 2000 are included.
