The first edition of this title appeared just six years ago and was edited by Kagan in conjunction with Yvette Scheven, a prominent US bibliographer of Africa and, until her retirement, his colleague at the University of Illinois Urbana‐Champaign. Kagan now holds the posts of professor for library administration and African Studies bibliographer at the University, which holds one of the pre‐eminent collections of African studies materials in North America.
