The 2003 edition of this now firmly established guide to life in Wales had 800 pp (RR 2003/356). Fewer pages this year reflect changes in format and design rather than any simplification in the governance, bureaucracies, and civil society of Wales. Page after page reveal establishments, institutions, organizations, coteries, and cliques of startling extent and diversity. I cannot be alone in my ignorance of the very existence of most, let alone their function and efficacy. Accordingly, the Wales Yearbook is unique, the only available comprehensive guide to the economic, political and social infrastructure of Wales.
