This is the third edition of a dictionary first published in 1995 and again in 2001. It is fitting that this edition is dedicated to Ian Buchannan, a very affable gentleman who has devoted much time and energy to promoting the Olympic movement and documenting its past. Although originally a joint publication, Ian's failing health has prevented his continued involvement. Bill Mallon, another individual who has managed to balance a successful career with prolific research and documentation of the Olympic Games, has taken responsibility for updating the dictionary.
