I have now reviewed a number of often quite different volumes in this series – for example A Companion to the Eighteenth Century English Novel (RR 2007/83), A Companion to Old Norse‐Icelandic Literature and Culture (RR 2006/23) – and it is heartening to find such a high degree of consistency across a wide range of subjects. This latest volume certainly maintains, even enhances, that high reputation.
