Christian ethics (a Protestant term) and moral theology (the Catholic equivalent) are subjects that few people involved in decision‐making of any kind can fail to consider. Wherever a culture has a Christian basis, whether acknowledged or not, its moral attitudes are shaped by the underlying Christian teaching on any given topic. Even decision‐making in purely secular contexts such as commerce and trade owe many of their practices to the moral standards set through the churches over many centuries.
