Environmental science is about as multi‐disciplinary as any academic subject can be. It takes in most of biology and meteorology, parts of geology and aspects of health, civil rights, law, economics and sociology; plus no doubt much more. The position taken by the various disciplines over particular topics and incidents can vary. These areas of disagreement are areas of conflict, or, as the title of this book has it, battlegrounds.
