In reviewing this book I should immediately declare a bias: I confess to being a fruit and vegetable “anorak” (UK slang expression for an enthusiast). Growing fruit and vegetables organically on a semi‐commercial smallholding is my passion and part‐time occupation, an antidote to and escape from life in library land. It was therefore a huge pleasure to receive this title for review, which covers just about all the fruits and vegetables I know and grow plus many other plants that are only a horticultural fantasy here at 54 degrees latitude north.
