The Welsh Academy Encyclopedia of Wales

Initiated, ambitiously, in 1998, The Welsh Academy Encyclopedia of Wales – the first ever single‐volume encyclopedia in the history of Wales – is a hugely significant landmark for the Welsh nation and for the University of Wales Press, its publisher in both Welsh and English versions. Its birth would have been observed with benign approval by Thomas Gee (1815‐98) of Dinbych/Denbigh, progenitor of the ten‐volume Y Gwyddionadur Cymreig (1854‐79) edited by John Patty of Y Bala.
