The Historical Dictionary of the American Revolution is a companion volume to the author's Historical Dictionary of Revolutionary America (Mays, 2005) (RR 2006/119). While the latter title concentrates on the political, economic, and social issues the colonials faced between 1763 and 1787, this one focuses on the military aspects of the American War for Independence (1775‐1783). It benefits from recent scholarship identifying, locating, and describing minor battles, raids and skirmishes. Consequently, this volume includes many additional entries for these engagements.
