This Princeton book is actually a translation from the Italian. The original appeared in 2006. As befits a book on the international revolutionary movement, its authorship is also highly international. The writers' names read like an international telephone directory: Constantiu, Gibjanski, Klinkhammer, Kristjansdottir, Marinelli, Roberts, Szakolczai, and so on. Physically it is a handsome quarto nearly a thousand pages long – large, heavy and very well made. The text is a no‐nonsense collection of 400 entries on Communist topics (mostly European) – bodies, movements, themes, doctrines, persons and events. There are no pictures, no documents, no statistics; just text.
