CRC Encyclopedia of Mathematics (3rd edition)

This is possibly the most comprehensive work on mathematics available today. It is a superb set of three volumes covering most areas of pure and, to a lesser degree, applied mathematics. Indeed, this reviewer could find only a single topic that is not covered. There is little coverage of the history of mathematics, but that is appropriate since the encyclopedia is a handbook for mathematicians, not historians. It has been a gargantuan labour of love on the part of the author to put together this work, consisting of over 4,300 pages, and the author's enthusiasm shines through in his writing....
