This is a splendid gazetteer aimed at the keen amateur astronomer, written by an author with many years of experience. The book is full of detailed information and instructions for observing deep‐sky celestial objects, such as galaxies, nebulae, star clusters and so on. Note that planets and stars are not included specifically, although there are some descriptions of double, triple and variable stars. Therefore, this guide is most useful for those astronomers interested in observing nebulae, with a detailed description of the Messier and many NGC objects. All objects are listed in the index, making for easy look‐up.
