While collections of the world's national anthems have been made previously (e.g. Bristow 2006), there is now a worthy competitor in the field. It encompasses the anthems of all the 192 members of the United Nations, to which, for this new edition, the editor has added about 35 others, being those of prominent international organizations (such as the Olympic movement), of states which are not internationally recognised but appear to be independent de facto (like Western Sahara), and selected “extinct states” in the case of which not only a regime but the state boundaries have disappeared (e.g. the USSR)....
