It is a joy when your editor sends me a book published by one of the Boydell & Brewer imprints (this one, D. S. Brewer; the Antique Collectors' Club is another). This work is no exception. Perhaps less profusely illustrated than some of the others – though the hundred‐plus plates are of a high standard – but the detail and scholarship manifest in the book is humbling and inspirational.
