The first thing that has to be pointed out to readers of Reference Reviews is that there is no chapter specifically on reference work. Information literacy is not, of course, the same thing and only chapters on local studies, British and European official publications, or on patents information, really touch on the subject. Whether this was a planned omission (“inclusions of subjects have always varied from volume to volume […]”) or fell foul of accident, as we are told happened with some other topics, is impossible to tell. But never mind, there is still plenty here to retain our interest....
